What is a BarreConcept class?

A BarreConcept class incorporates the precision of pilates, the technique of ballet, the alignment of yoga and the strength from sports conditioning. The combined elements of the different methods fuse to form a challenging and exciting workout, which stretches and sculpts the muscles, whilst burning fat. Balance, strength, stamina, power, flexibility and motor control all improve. The workout produces dramatic results that sculpt and redefine the entire body.

Set to the beat of high energy music, this low impact but high intensity workout lifts the butt, tones the thighs, flattens the abs, sculpts the arms, burns fat and improves cardiovascular fitness whilst protecting the joints. Full range movements are integrated with small isometric contractions and static holds ensuring that the muscles are worked to fatigue (going for the burn) followed immediately by stretching out the muscle group that has worked. This encourages long, lean, toned, re- lengthened muscles helping to create the body shape of a dancer. With this technique the results are so much quicker than that of pilates or yoga alone, leaving you feeling fit, realigned, rebalanced and body strong without the added bulk of other regimes.


What do you wear to class?

Please arrive ten minutes before the start of class ready to start in workout clothes that you can move in. Workout clothes can be tight fitting or loose if you prefer. The class is taken with bare feet but you can wear soft ballet shoes or ‘barre’ socks if you have them.

Tap water is made available for the class but you can bring your own bottled water if you prefer.
